Vinothec Social

Picturesque were invited to design and build Vinothec Social as part of one for the largest regeneration projects in south east London. Vinothec was the first restaurant in Phase 2 of the Lewisham Gateway Project by Muse Developments. From an empty shell to fully a operational independent, family friendly cafe, bar and restaurant, Vinothec would become a central hub for the local community.

Vinothec Social is a casual dining concept, a relaxed and friendly environment offering coffee and brunch, a collection of fine wine, artisanal ales, sour dough pizza and pisco sours.

Viennese architect Hermann Czech once asserted that a good restaurant should not be noticed but remembered. The implications of this insight is that spaces designed for hospitality should place the emphasis on the experience of spending time with one another and that good design is simply a framework, a backdrop for these very specific moments.

Cool and contemporary, warm and rustic. Rooted in tradition but forward thinking, utilitarian and industrial,

We designed a Scandinavian inspired scheme using polished concrete, venetian plaster and birch ply as the raw ingredients. A sensual palate of earth tones creating a light and relaxing space by day, transformed into a warm and intimate atmosphere by night.
